How it started...
Hi! I'm Lauren, the owner and founder of Blue Fox Botanicals LLC. I am a professional archaeologist, artist, and herbalist who has been working with plants for over a decade. I have completed certificate program coursework in Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy through the University of Minnesota. I also have a MA in Anthropology from Monmouth University, MA in Education from Central Michigan University, and BA in Studio Art. All of these life experiences compliment a budding herbal practice by combining traditional uses of plant medicine with evolving scientific study.
Long before discovering the amazing, magical, healing world of plants and fungi, I struggled to find health and skincare products that worked well for me. I had always been plagued by sensitive skin and tried just about every vegan lip balm on the market, all of which very quickly made my skin even drier and prone to breakouts. As a sufferer of childhood asthma and environmental allergies, I also became interested in natural ways of relieving symptoms. So I decided to take charge of my wellness! Finding solutions took many years of education, clinical and historical research, and trial and error - but ultimately I found relief and healing in the natural world, from immune supportive mushrooms to inflammation reducing plants. And I also found that my career as an archaeologist & historian complimented my life as a grassroots herbalist. Human beings have had a profound symbiotic relationship with plants and fungi long before recorded history, and many of those cultural traditions endure on a global scale. Herbalism is a vital part of our existence that modern medicine simply cannot replace or eradicate.
I formulated botanical recipes that have worked for myself and loved ones for many years, and Blue Fox Botanicals is my way of sharing that with the world - for people like me who want the best for their body and have struggled with finding solutions to the most common ailments. Since opening in 2019, I have been steadily increasing my product offerings to include tinctures, bath soaks, and workshops. I create everything by hand from plants and mushrooms I've personally grown organically or foraged from pristine locations. All base ingredients are ethical, fair trade, sustainably produced, and vegan because I believe we can do less harm to the environment and other living beings while still taking care of ourselves naturally and holistically.
In my herbal blends, I use 100% pure organic oils infused with plant species that have beneficial properties with solid safety profiles. All of the recipes created by Blue Fox Botanicals are ones that I have personally used regularly for years to provide unadulterated healing while preserving and protecting our planet.
